Granite Mini-zine
EDITORIAL // PHOTOGRAPHY
Granite is a fictional mini-zine about New Hampshire (the Granite State).
Each issue focuses on a different aspect of the state whether it be a geographical region, town, attraction, historical aspect, etc. The May 2019 issue was about the state’s capital, Concord, which happens to be where I grew up.
I was inspired by my home state of New Hampshire. The audience of this piece would be people like me who are from New Hampshire or have a personal attachment to it. I wanted all my design decisions to be inspired by the state and to speak to the state’s history, land, and charm.
The masthead for the cover incorporates the state’s famous symbol, the Old Man of the Mountain. I also used original photography taken throughout Concord for the article which explores 5 fun things to do in the city during the summer.
The two articles featured are about fun things to do in Concord during the spring and summer and the history of the state symbol - the Old Man on the Mountain. For both these articles, the cover, and the table of contents I used all original photography and artwork. For the JWU ad in the back, I was given the JWU brand style guides and approved stock photography to use.
